Another Picnic Table
Wouter Nieuwendijk and Jair Straschnow teamed up to challenge the traditional picnic table that provided easier access at the table and with a flip of the seat it converts into a comfortable lounge chair.

This played with my mind for a moment. Shelf, oh wait no..table? chair?
Bookshelves that say something

People write books usually because they have something to say. People even collect books because, the books they have on their bookshelf say something about who they are or want to be.
What about the bookshelves these books sit on? What does their design say? Which of these bookshelves says YOU?

This Post is Completely Garbage!
Really… Allow me to introduce Chuck
Chuck might very well be the world’s first modern, waste-less wastepaper basket constructed of 100% recycled cardboard, printed with low VOC based inks that is totally recyclable. The eco-ficient “no tools no glues” fold and tuck assembly of Chuck is in perfect keeping with the desires of the environmentally savvy lifestyle that believes and lives the concept of smart design. — from their website
Having just helped Adam move into a new apartment, we’ve had quite a few empty boxes. Also having just moved into a new apartment.. there has been alot of garbage and, for at least a little while, no bin to collect that garbage in. Inevitably the empty boxes are piled up next to the door and are then filled with the garbage that accumulates.
Chuck is essentially the same thing, only way better looking.
We already bought regular boring plastic bins to put our garbage in and get rid of the cardboard box mahem, but all things perfect and I would love to have one or two of these for waste-paper collection in the office or bedroom.

Currently only the brown leafy design is available, but they are also offering custom designs. Company’s with a “green” policy could consider getting on board with this, creating some interesting branding illustrations and using these as office receptacles.
Avoiding plastic whenever we can and reusing waste scraps is always a plus in my books.
Now this is interesting use of texture, furniture design, urban yet natural.. modern yet…. odd.
(modern YET odd seems dumb.. modern is often odd. Maybe that’s what makes it modern.)
